Schedule Your Priorities

Hello! It's been a while since my last blog post.  Reminds me that I need to schedule my priorities. What a challenging and exciting year 2017 was. Let's all look forward to a bright 2018.

As you embark on a new year give yourself a break; it is beneficial to your mental and physical health to relax and recuperate.

Life is demanding and can be stressful at times. I am sure you would agree; so many things to do in so little time. But, if you keep going at full speed everyday, it can be hard on you physically and mentally. You will eventually burn out. and you do not want that!
Through relaxation, the body, mind and spirit renews themselves.

Some Benefits of Relaxing;

  • Boosts the immune system
  • Reduces our stress levels
  • Has a positive effect on our energy levels and productivity

If you are feeling overwhelmed and stressed, you are not alone. Stress is a basic part of life, and our bodies are designed  to handle small doses of stress, but too much stress can affect all aspects of your life; physically, mentally and cognitively. In my opinion, excessive stress is a slow killer.

Tune out. Turn off. Shut down.

There are many ways to help manage and reduce your stress levels:

Read a book. Meditate. Dance. Cook. Tap into your Creativity. Get outside and take in some sunshine or cool breeze. Visit natureGo swimming. Walking. Golfing. Hiking.  When the opportunity arises or when it best suits you, travel. Etc. Whatever you choose to do, enjoy every minute of it and try to incorporate some form of activity into your everyday life.

I know what you are thinking; "I don't have time" Yes you do! We all have time. The key is to; schedule your priorities. Oh yes I am a culprit of not scheduling my priorities efficiently. It's my 2018 resolution to step up my game. However, I do take time to relax. You can schedule 15 to 30 minutes a day for relaxation.

Baked Chicken

  Baked Chicken | Simple Meal Ideas | Cooking Tips       No recipe today, however this is today's cooking tips and a simple meal idea:   Baking Chicken tips:   Rinse the chicken and pat it dry before baking. Once you remove the chicken from its package, rinse it under cool water in the sink (note: always sanitize your sink with disinfectant afterward). Next, pat the chicken dry with paper towels. Removing excess moisture will ensure you get extra crispy skin.   To reduce fat and calories, you can skin chicken legs.  Prepare all ingredients and preheat the oven to 400°F.   Spices: I like to use cumin, onion (grated) garlic (grated), paprika, celery powder, cayenne pepper and dried thyme if you have. Please make sure they are fresh! Spices are delicious, but a stale spice can easily ruin a dish. However, you are free to try different spice combinations.   The secret to making them crispy? Don't bake the chi...

One Day at a Time

  One Day at a Time      Working out takes courage and self-motivation. It’s not always about losing weight — for me, it's about staying healthy, strong, and grateful that I can move. Whether it's Taekwondo or Zumba, my goal is the same: to stay active, to keep my energy flowing, and to enjoy the process — no stress, no pressure, just one day at a time. At my age, it may be harder to see quick results, but that doesn’t stop me. I focus on progress, not perfection. Some days, I don’t even want to leave the house — but that's when I give myself that little pep talk, reminding myself why I'm doing this. And once I start, no matter how tough the session gets, I’m always grateful I showed up. Because being able to move, stretch, kick, and dance is a blessing — health is true wealth. Every workout is a victory over excuses, a reminder that I am stronger than my doubts. Progress may be slow, but as they say, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Slowly but surely — I’m building s...
