A homemade remedy with onion.

A homemade remedy with onion.

Onions are nutrient-dense, meaning they’re low in calories but high in vitamins and minerals, including being natural antivirals and antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and expectorants.

Winter cough can be bothersome, so this is our homemade remedy. A no complex concoction, just a a simple immunity-boosting syrup with onion to help our body's defense mechanism against cold, cough, fever and flu. We usually add honey or drink as it is.

Instructions:

Rinse the onion.

Run the peeled onion under a lukewarm tap to remove any small specks of skin or dirt.

Dry it with a clean paper towel.

Extract the juice out of the 1 onion by grating it and transferring to a jar.

Add honey or some sugar but optional. We prefer without.

Allow to sit at room temperature for a few hours until you see the juice from the onion start to collect at the bottom of the jar.

I usually drink a teaspoon for a cold, but my mom when she has been exposed to dust tend to cough a lot and would drink a tablespoon and works wonders.

It is better to make it fresh daily or every two days and store in the refrigerator.

DISCLAIMER:

You may want to skip onions if you have heartburn. Onions are a versatile vegetable used in numerous dishes across many cuisines. They have also been used throughout history as a home remedy due to their multiple health benefits. Unfortunately, onions also have several downsides. These range from mild, such as bad breath and eye irritation, to severe, like allergic reactions and drug interactions.

Baked Chicken

Baked Chicken | Simple Meal Ideas | Cooking Tips       No recipe today, however this is today's cooking tips and a simple meal idea:   Baking Chicken tips:   Rinse the chicken and pat it dry before baking. Once you remove the chicken from its package, rinse it under cool water in the sink (note: always sanitize your sink with disinfectant afterward). Next, pat the chicken dry with paper towels. Removing excess moisture will ensure you get extra crispy skin.   To reduce fat and calories, you can skin chicken legs.  Prepare all ingredients and preheat the oven to 400°F.   Spices: I like to use cumin, onion (grated) garlic (grated), paprika, celery powder, cayenne pepper and dried thyme if you have. Please make sure they are fresh! Spices are delicious, but a stale spice can easily ruin a dish. However, you are free to try different spice combinations.   The secret to making them crispy? Don't bake the chi...

One Day at a Time

One Day at a Time      Working out takes courage and self-motivation. It’s not always about losing weight — for me, it's about staying healthy, strong, and grateful that I can move. Whether it's Taekwondo or Zumba, my goal is the same: to stay active, to keep my energy flowing, and to enjoy the process — no stress, no pressure, just one day at a time. At my age, it may be harder to see quick results, but that doesn’t stop me. I focus on progress, not perfection. Some days, I don’t even want to leave the house — but that's when I give myself that little pep talk, reminding myself why I'm doing this. And once I start, no matter how tough the session gets, I’m always grateful I showed up. Because being able to move, stretch, kick, and dance is a blessing — health is true wealth. Every workout is a victory over excuses, a reminder that I am stronger than my doubts. Progress may be slow, but as they say, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Slowly but surely — I’m building s...
