Prepare a strawberry sauce topping with me | Hello September

Prepare a strawberry sauce topping with me | Hello September

Started with a simple plain cake and decided to get creative! I added a swirl of chocolate just to see what would happen! I’m happy to say the outcome was delicious; the cake turned out light, moist, and just the right texture. To take it up a notch, I prepared a fresh strawberry sauce, and the two paired perfectly together. Super delish… definitely a must-try!💜

By the way talk about perfect timing! My hubby’s guitar practice became the live soundtrack. Couldn’t have asked for a better vibe setter!

Happy September, everyone! May this month bring you fresh energy, new opportunities, and blessings in abundance.

Homemade Strawberry Sauce (Topping) Ingredients:

1 Tablespoon cornstarch ( I did not have cornstarch so I used flour)

3 Tablespoons (45ml) warm water

1 lb strawberries, hulled and sliced in half (you can use frozen; don’t thaw) zest and juice from 1/2 small lemon

1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar

Instructions:

Whisk the cornstarch and water together until all the cornstarch has dissolved. Place the cornstarch mixture, along with the rest of the ingredients, into a small saucepan over medium heat. Using a wooden spoon or rubber spatula, stir the mixture as it cooks. Break up some of the strawberries as you stir. Bring it to a simmer and allow to simmer for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.

After 5 minutes, remove pan from the heat and allow to cool. The mixture will thicken as it cools. You can serve the sauce warm before it cools completely if desired, or store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Strawberry topping will be thick after refrigeration, so microwave for 15 seconds or warm on the stove to thin out, if desired.

Baked Chicken

Baked Chicken | Simple Meal Ideas | Cooking Tips       No recipe today, however this is today's cooking tips and a simple meal idea:   Baking Chicken tips:   Rinse the chicken and pat it dry before baking. Once you remove the chicken from its package, rinse it under cool water in the sink (note: always sanitize your sink with disinfectant afterward). Next, pat the chicken dry with paper towels. Removing excess moisture will ensure you get extra crispy skin.   To reduce fat and calories, you can skin chicken legs.  Prepare all ingredients and preheat the oven to 400°F.   Spices: I like to use cumin, onion (grated) garlic (grated), paprika, celery powder, cayenne pepper and dried thyme if you have. Please make sure they are fresh! Spices are delicious, but a stale spice can easily ruin a dish. However, you are free to try different spice combinations.   The secret to making them crispy? Don't bake the chi...

One Day at a Time

One Day at a Time      Working out takes courage and self-motivation. It’s not always about losing weight — for me, it's about staying healthy, strong, and grateful that I can move. Whether it's Taekwondo or Zumba, my goal is the same: to stay active, to keep my energy flowing, and to enjoy the process — no stress, no pressure, just one day at a time. At my age, it may be harder to see quick results, but that doesn’t stop me. I focus on progress, not perfection. Some days, I don’t even want to leave the house — but that's when I give myself that little pep talk, reminding myself why I'm doing this. And once I start, no matter how tough the session gets, I’m always grateful I showed up. Because being able to move, stretch, kick, and dance is a blessing — health is true wealth. Every workout is a victory over excuses, a reminder that I am stronger than my doubts. Progress may be slow, but as they say, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Slowly but surely — I’m building s...
